Annual School Supply Drive 2014
The Members of the Windward Oahu Sunrise Rotary Club partnered with volunteers from the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base for the 2014 Windward School Supply Drive at Long's Drug Store in Kailua, Oahu
The Windward Oahu Sunrise Rotary Club held its annual school supply drive on 26 July, 2014 outside of the Kailua Long’s Drug store. Our club, with the volunteer support of Military and their Family Members from the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, and the support from Long’s Drugs for the location, was able to have the drive from early morning through the afternoon. The school supply drive yielded over $2,000.00 in school supplies and $460 in cash donations. The supplies and cash donations were equally divided and distributed to four Windward Oahu elementary schools.
Rotary International focus areas include promoting peace, fighting disease, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies. The annual school supply drive, club support for vision screenings for elementary school children in the fall, and the distribution of dictionaries to the 3rd graders attending Windward Oahu elementary schools are our club’s local efforts supporting education and literacy in our community.
