Veterans For Peace, Golden Rule Project

In 1958, four Quakers sailed Golden Rule, a small ketch, from Los Angeles towards the Marshall Islands Pacific Proving Ground in an attempt to stop nuclear bomb tests. Although the crew was arrested in Honolulu, the public outcry over their detention helped convince President Kennedy to sign the Limited
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty of 1963. Now, spurred by the renewed possibilities of nuclear weapons use, the restored Golden Rule is sailing the Pacific on an educational mission of Peace in the Pacific.

Helen will show a 10-minute documentary film about the boat and mission with an update on the voyage!
