Planning For End of Life Care

Aimee Nelson Aimee Nelson wears a number of different hats as the Marketing & Development Coordinator at Navian Hawaii. In addition to overseeing event planning and sponsorships for the organization’s annual Hot Pursuit fundraiser, she educates the general public about the organization’s hospice and integrated care services through community outreach activities. She also acts as a brand steward and oversees special marketing projects, such as the organization’s quarterly print newsletter, to ensure brand alignment. With a background in non-profit, healthcare, residential, and retail industries, Aimee has been a part of the Navian Hawaii team since 2016. She previously held project management and marketing positions with Howard Hughes Corporation, Servco Pacific Inc. and MINI of Hawaii. Active in the community, Aimee is a member of the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce and Ad 2 Hawaii. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. Outside of work, you can catch her on stage or as a patron at Manoa Valley Theatre and Kumu Kahu Theatre.

Aiko Yamashiro was raised in Kāneʻohe and a graduate of Castle High School and UH Mānoa (PhD in community-engaged literatures of Hawaiʻi). She is the executive director of Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, a nonprofit dedicated to history, culture, literature, philosophy, and the ways the humanities can strengthen our communities outside of the university. In her presentation, she will share some poems and some stories from the work of her organization. |
